CPRC’s Shark Tank Journey: Not the Ending We Wanted, But a Milestone We’re Proud Of

When we first applied to Shark Tank, we knew it was a long shot.
Thousands of businesses apply every year. Some are already well-funded. Some have full-time teams. Some have years of sales behind them. We were a student-founded coffee pod recycling company built from a school design project, a 3D printer, a mission to reduce coffee pod waste, and a belief that a small idea could solve a real environmental problem.
And somehow, CPRC made it through three rounds of auditions.
After months of calls, preparation, updates, and waiting, we recently learned that CPRC will not be moving forward to the next stage of the Shark Tank process. Of course, we are disappointed. We wanted the chance to stand in front of the Sharks and show them what we’ve built. We wanted to bring coffee pod recycling to a national audience.
But more than anything, we are proud.
Out of the massive number of companies that apply, CPRC made it down to roughly the final 500 applicants out of the original ~35,000. For a company founded and run by high school students, that is something we will never take lightly.
This process forced us to sharpen our story. It made us think harder about our mission, our products, our customers, our growth, and where we want CPRC to go next. It reminded us that what started as a simple idea has become a real company with real customers, real products, and real potential.
The most important part is this: our mission has not changed.
Coffee pod waste is still a major environmental problem. Millions of people use single-serve coffee pods every day, and far too many of those pods end up in landfills. CPRC exists because we believe people should not have to choose between convenience and sustainability. Our recyclers make it easier for households, offices, and businesses to separate coffee pod materials and recycle more responsibly.
That mission is bigger than one audition process.
We are incredibly grateful to the Shark Tank casting team for giving us the opportunity to make it as far as we did. We are also thankful to everyone who has supported CPRC along the way — our customers, mentors, friends, families, and everyone who has shared our story or believed in what we are building.
This is not the end of CPRC’s story. It is a chapter.
We made it through three rounds. We made it to the final few hundred. We proved that our idea belongs in serious conversations about sustainability, entrepreneurship, and the future of coffee pod recycling.
Now, we keep building.
More products. More outreach. More partnerships. More recycling. More impact.
Thank you for believing in CPRC. The Sharks may not be part of our journey this time, but our mission is only getting stronger.
