At The Coffee Pod Recycling Co. (CPRC), we’ve always believed that innovation doesn’t happen by accident — it happens when you decide to challenge the status quo.
That’s why we’re excited to announce that CPRC has officially entered both our product and our business model into the Blue Ocean Challenge.
This is a major milestone for our team — and for our mission.
What Is the Blue Ocean Challenge?
The Blue Ocean Challenge is a national student entrepreneurship competition inspired by the “blue ocean strategy” concept: instead of competing in crowded, saturated markets (the red ocean), create new demand in uncontested spaces — the blue ocean.
That’s exactly what CPRC was built to do.
Single-use coffee pods are everywhere. Billions are used annually. Most end up in landfills.
Instead of waiting for someone else to solve the problem, we built a solution that makes recycling easy, efficient, and accessible for households and offices.
We’re not just selling a product.
We’re creating a new category.
What We’re Submitting
1️⃣ Our Product Innovation
Our patent-pending Coffee Pod Recycler system — including:
V1 (Keurig-compatible)
V2 (Nespresso Original-compatible)
V3 (Nespresso Vertuo-compatible, design completed and entering patent phase)
Each iteration reflects months of refinement, feedback, and engineering improvements. The goal is simple: eliminate friction from pod recycling. Sustainability shouldn’t be complicated.
2️⃣ Our Business Model
CPRC isn’t just about hardware — it’s about impact. We’re a fully student-run company based in New Jersey, built on:
Direct-to-consumer sales
In-person retail partnerships
Community sustainability awareness
Scalable licensing potential with major pod manufacturers
By combining product innovation with grassroots traction, we’ve created a business positioned for both growth and long-term environmental impact. That’s the blue ocean.
Why This Matters
Entering the Blue Ocean Challenge pushes us to:
Sharpen our value proposition
Strengthen our competitive moat
Refine our long-term scaling strategy
Present CPRC on a national stage
As juniors balancing academics, extracurriculars, and entrepreneurship, this opportunity represents something bigger than a pitch deck. It’s validation that student-led innovation can compete — and win — at the highest levels.
Looking Ahead
We’re entering this competition with confidence — and gratitude.
From our early prototypes to sold-out restocks, from product redesigns to rapid Q4 sales growth, CPRC continues to prove that sustainability and smart business go hand-in-hand.
We’re not just participating.
We’re competing.
And we’re building a future where recycling your coffee pod is as natural as brewing your morning cup.
Stay tuned for updates — and wish us luck as we take CPRC into the Blue Ocean 🌊♻️
